Sending Your Newsletter to AOL Users

Some of my clients aren't getting the link to my newsletter when I send it to them via email.  Why not?

Your problem is most likely with AOL users.  Most people who send out newsletters, news, etc., provide two different links to the newsletter or the news item, one for "normal" browsers (like Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator), the other for AOL users.

For example, Inman News handles it the following way:

REAL ESTATE BROKERS WAKING UP
http://www.inman.com/hstory.asp?ID=30213&CatType=R
AOL Users: <a href=http://www.inman.com/hstory.asp?ID=30213&CatType=R> Click Here</a>

For an AOL user, the regular link doesn't show up as a "hot" link, but the one below it does.  For you and I, the AOL link doesn't show up as a "hot" link.

All you do is paste the web page URL into the area in between "<a href=" and the last ">".

This is a bit of a mess, but designed by AOL to keep their users tied to the AOL community, and not jumping to other cheaper services that open up the entire World Wide Web.
