Search Engines, Directories, and Web Promotion for Realtors.

Check out 50 sites that link to Realtors.

Once you get a web page on this site (or your own web site) you should register it with search engines, directories, and real estate sites that provide links for Realtors. You should do it yourself because no one is more interested than your web success than you, even if you pay them.  Plus, if you use "Easy Submit" it is extremely easy.

Even if your web site developer promises to register you, you should still do it yourself.   Registering with search engines does not always take on the first attempt.   And will your web developer register ALL of your pages?  Or just one and let the spider or robot come around and "perhaps" register your other pages?

Also, those sites that promise to register you with 300 or 900 search engines?  Mostly that just gets you a lot of junk mail, especially now that multi-level marketing seems to have hit the web in force.  We recommend against it, unless you like junk mail.

Either click on the links below or use Easy Submit.    Do it yourself.

Easy Submit:
This is cool.  You enter your web page information on this page, then it takes you to a program that lets you submit to 28 major search engines and directories in sequence.  Then when you come back to submit another page, it remembers your personal data.  Some guidelines:  Never submit more than five pages in any one day, because sites like Alta Vista will think you are engaged in "spamming" the index and you can get your pages kicked off.   Some directories only allow you one entry, so you will want to enter only your home page on these. Also, some versions of Internet Explorer don't work well with Easy Submit, though I had no problem with IE5 (use Netscape Navigator if you have problems).  If you use "Easy Submit" you can pretty much ignore most of the list below except Yahoo.  You should also check out the other services offered by ABS, especially if you create or manage your own web site.
Yahoo - Yahoo is a directory, so you need to list your web page or site in the proper category.   You will probably want to choose a regional category since you probably do not service the entire country.  Just go to the page you want to be on, then click on "Suggest a Site."  Since Easy Submit does not handle Yahoo, you have to do it yourself.
Alta Vista - one of the major search engines, perhaps the most popular.
Go To - With "Go To" you have to agree to pay a certain amount for each "click through" to your page.  The amount you pay is subject to a "bid," and you purchase key words.  Read the instructions on the page carefully if you decide to do this.  However, if your search is specific enough, like "city name real estate" it appears to be pretty inexpensive.  I am waiting for a response from a Realtor who currently uses this to determine effectiveness and expense.
InfoSeek - with InfoSeek you have to type in the URL of each page you want to submit and you usually submit by email.  Directions are posted on this page.   This is my favorite search engine because you can search your results to further narrow down the web page you are looking for.
Lycos - a major search engine who advertises on television and just got bought by Barry Diller's company, who also owns the USA network.
AOL NetFind - AOL has fourteen million subscriber or so?  So you need to get on here, too.
Excite - They even advertise on television and are a major search engine.
HotBot - You can submit your main page and the rest ot the site will be spidered, but you can also submit all of your pages so you can get into the index faster.
LookSmart
NetGuide - at NetGuide you submit your site for review in a specific category.   Directions and FAQ are located on this page.
Snap - Go to any page except for the home page, scroll down, look for the "add URL" hyperlink, and complete the information.  It is best if you click through to the page where you would like to be added before you click on "add URL."  If you try and submit from the home page, you will think you have to pay to be listed.
Web Crawler - according to some, this is one of the most thorough search engines.
Dig - This is Disney's search engine.
eBLAST - Encyclopedia Britannica' search engine.
Google
Magellan Internet Guide
Open Directory Project - from this page you have to find the right category, probably regional, then add your URL on that page.
Northern Light
100HOT.com
Planet Search
Search King
ThunderStone
whatUseek
InfoTiger
Links2Go - This link will take you to the real estate page.  If you look to the left, you will see the link for mortgages.  Listings are in alphabetical order.
Power Links
California Registration Page - Your business must be physically located in California.
Infohighway
Gee-Whiz! - a directory which takes site submissions in a way similar to Yahoo.
